Bike Newton, in conjunction with JazzBoston.org and the Boston Harbor Islands National Park invite you to join us either Saturday Aug. 12 or Sunday Aug. 13 for a trip to Long Wharf in Boston and then to George’s Island to hear “Wild Music”.  We will leave Newtonville at 10am, bike to Long Wharf and arrive around 11am, then board a ferry (free with pre-registration) at 12 noon for Georges Island.   You can lock up your bike on Long Wharf — but you can also bring your bike on the ferry and park it on George’s Island.  (Bring a lock.)  From arrival time on the Island to 3pm feel free to have lunch, explore the island, and listen to some of Boston’s best jazz musicians play to the sound of ocean waves, seagulls,  and sea breezes.  At 3pm we will head back to Long Wharf via the ferry.  (Note: you may take earlier or later ferries back – check the schedule.)

Note that there are 3 levels of participation for riders in this event:

1. The full level of participation as described above, which would be approx. 10:00am to 5:00 in duration

2. Riders may also join he bike ride to Long Wharf, and take the ferry to George’s Island at 12 noon, but then immediately return with the ferry back to Long Wharf at 1:00pm.  (Ferry reservation required).   Riders are not guaranteed a ride leader for the trip back.

3. Riders may also join the ride to Long Wharf, but then after taking a rest, just back to Newton. (No ferry reservation required.)  Riders are not guaranteed a rider leader for the trip back.

Below is a link to the EventBrite site to sign up and reserve a free ferry ticket!  You can go Saturday and/or Sunday — we’ll be riding both days, weather permitting.  We only ask that if you do reserve a ticket for the ferry — please show up, as they are limited!
