DESCRIPTION:Join us on National Bike to Work Day  for a ride and celebration organized by Boston-Bikes\, who want to say “Thanks for riding your bike today!”   The Bike Newton contingent will be assembling at Newton City Hall (1000 Commonwealth Ave.) and cycling into Boston and arriving at the City Hall Plaza.   We’ll be met by bike groups from all around the Boston area\, and Boston-Bikes will be hosting free breakfast and coffee amid an expo from 7:30-9:30am for all riders!    More details about Boston’s Bike to Work day right here:   https://www.boston.gov/departments/boston-bikes/bike-work-day. \nMeet in front of the Newton City Hall (1000 Commonwealth Ave.) in Newton Center\, and we’ll leave at 6:45am.   This is a family-friendly\, “no-rider-left-behind” ride and all ages are invited\, but all young children must be accompanied by an adult.  Bike helmets are required.   10 miles.   Be sure to check bikenewton.org for last-minute changes.

SUMMARY:Group Ride: Roslindale Jazz Festival
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a ride to the first-ever Roslindale Jazz Festival at Adams Park\, right in the middle of one of Boston’s friendliest  neighborhoods.  We’ll leave from the Newton Main Library at 11:45 am\, ride through South Newton and West Roxbury\,  and arrive at Adams Park in time to hear the first band at 1:00 pm.  Feel free to bring a picnic lunch\, or get something in Roslindale Square.  The music goes to 6pm; some riders may want to return to Newton after taking a short break\, while others may want to stay for longer.  We can discuss this at the event\, but it is quite possible we will not return to Newton as a single group. \nThis is a family-friendly\, “no-rider-left-behind” ride and all ages are invited\, but all young children must be accompanied by an adult. SUMMARY:Join up with Bike Together Waltham's May Ride
DESCRIPTION:Please Note: This ride has been postponed to the next day:  Sunday\, May 31! \nBike Together Waltham (BTW) conducts group rides on the last Saturday of the month (but this ride now postponed to Sunday\, May 31)\, and today we will join their ride\, and meet and mingle with our biking compatriots from Waltham!  We will depart from Star Market\, 33 Austin St. in Newtonville at 11:30 am Sunday  May 31\, and bike along the Charles River Trail to Waltham City Hall where the BTW ride starts at noon.  The BTW ride then ventures through local neighborhoods to Watertown before returning to Waltham\, about five miles\, and finishes on Moody St\, where riders who wish to can have lunch outdoors.  We’ll then bike back along the Charles to Newtonville. \nThis is a family-friendly\, “no-rider-left-behind” ride and all ages are invited\, but all young children must be accompanied by an adult. Bike helmets are required.   Total 12 miles roundtrip. SUMMARY:Tour de Porchfest Newton-2026
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a tour by bicycle of the Newton PorchFest 2026.   We’ll start at the Library at 330 Homer St. and visit a number of bands in Waban\, Aurburndale\, West Newton and Lower Falls.  The whole tour is scheduled for about 3 hours; riders may bail out early and head home if they want to\, or meet up during the ride at one of the stops.  Feel free to bring lunch\, drinks\, snacks.  The route we take and bands we see can be agreed upon by the group when we meet up.  Bring a map of the Porchfest\, and if you have favorite bands you’d like to see\, we can work that into the route! \nMeet in front of the Newton Main Library on Homer St. in Newton Center  This is a family-friendly\, “no-rider-left-behind” ride and all ages are invited\, but all young children must be accompanied by an adult.
