SUMMARY:Group Ride: The Noodle Ride - Now Sunday at 1PM
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our first group ride of the year!  And this is a special ride we are calling the “Noodle Ride”.  We’re going to tie swimming noodles (or similar) to our bikes to help make drivers aware of the new Pedestrian and Biking Safety Law that was passed by the Mass. Legislature in January 2023\, and goes into effect on April 2nd!  Follow the link above for details of the new law\, however one major stipulation in the law is that all vehicles must give at least a four-foot clearance when passing bikes\, pedestrians\, wheel chairs or any other non-motorized traveler in the roadway.  The bike route itself will take us on an 8.3 mile loop through the scenic villages of Newton Center\, Waban\, West Newton and Newtonville. \nMeet in front of the Newton Main library on Homer St. in Newton Center.  Attach a noodle to your bike similar to the picture\, or bring a noodle and a bungee cord or some string and we’ll work on it together.  If you can’t locate a pool noodle\, no problem – join the ride anyway!  We’ll aim to leave at 10:00am\, but we’ll reserve time to make sure we are all “noodled up.”   This is a family-friendly\, “no-rider-left-behind” ride and all ages are invited\, but all young children must be accompanied by an adult.  Bike helmets are required.  Be sure to check bikenewton.org for last-minute changes.  Note: we’ve moved the ride to the Rain Date: Sunday April 2nd at 1:00 pm. \nApproximate Route: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=7705125

DESCRIPTION:Join us for a Bike Newton WinterFEST ride on Sunday at 4PM! This will be a short loop 3 mile loop from Newton Centre to Newton Highlands and back. This is part of Newton Community Pride’s first annual WinterFEST next weekend! See below for more details on the ride and the weekend. \nRide:\nWe will meet Sunday 4PM at the Newton Centre Green (corner of Centre and Langley). As always\, helmets are required. In addition\, lights are required. This is for both safety and also for fun. Please make sure you have at least a front and a back light. DESCRIPTION:“The Magical Mystery Tour Continues” \nWe had so much fun last year with the mysteries along the way and the rally at city hall.  Tour de Newton 2019 will have routes starting in 4 villages – Newton Centre\, West Newton\, Newtonville and Waban + City Hall. All routes will rendezvous at Newton City Hall on Commonwealth Ave to celebrate.  In addition\, there will be a Petite Tour and Contra Tour leaving from City Hall. SUMMARY:Group Ride - Newton Porchfest Tour
DESCRIPTION:Newton does Porchfest for the 2nd year!  We will tour porches starting in Waban\, then going to Lower Falls and then Auburndale and take in some of the great music between 1pm and 4pm!  Meet in front of the Newton Main library on Homer St. in Newton Center at 12:45pm and we’ll map our exact route.  Each rider can pick a porch to stop at; see the link below.  One porch you won’t want to miss is porch #70 at 21 Fern St. in Auburndale where the fabulous Eclectics will be appearing from 2-4pm\, led by Bike Newton’s own Nate Aronow.  They will perform “Bikin’ the Bike” on request!  Bring a snack or lunch.   This is a family-friendly\, “no-rider-left-behind” ride and all ages are invited\, but all young children must be accompanied by an adult.
