Bicycling Projects in Newton
The City of Newton has several essential resources for cyclists.
You can find what you’re looking for one of two ways:
1) Click “How do I find…” then click “Bicycling.” This will bring you to Transportation Planning‘s web page.
2) On the top row, click “Government” and on the left sidebar, roll your cursor over “Planning.” Scroll down and choose “Transportation Planning.”
Here on the blue left sidebar, you can select to learn about:
- the Bicycle/Pedestrian Network plan, renamed as the Walk, Roll & Bike Network Plan.
- Initiatives, and learn about Bike Lanes, Bike Share such as BlueBikes, and how to request a location for a new Bike Rack, and more.
- Current Projects within the City that will improve existing or install new bike lanes.

Safe Routes to Schools (SRTS) is a non-governmental entity so you will not find that on the City or schools websites. However, it is a vital community resource and partners with the City to plan safe bicycling and walking routes to and from schools. The Newton chapter of SRTS also has an active FACEBOOK page.
